Eliminate the noise - Part 1 "Escape from wind noise and hand noise"
Hand noise can be eliminated by cutting at around 200Hz
In film and TV recordings, this low-cut filter is sometimes used to reduce handling noise. Human voices used in TV are cut at about 200Hz, so the low-cut filter is set to about 200Hz at the shooting site. This cleanly eliminates the hand noise that occurs when you hold the mic boom. In scenes like running with a boom, cutting down to 240Hz can eliminate much of the noise from human movement.
In film recording, if the frequency of the low-cut filter is raised too high, the voice will become dull (the sound lacks bass reverberation), so it is moderated on set. Sometimes I run a shotgun mic at 240Hz all the time.
The camera's low-cut filter has a fixed frequency, so it's a pity that it can't be used as conveniently as the above. The low-cut filter eliminates not only wind noise but also various unpleasant sounds, so I think manufacturers should pay attention to this.
