Galaxy Buds Pro review with stronger ANC
Galaxy Buds Pro, Samsung's new completely wireless earphone that has changed from a bean shape to a canal shape and has greatly improved active noise cancellation performance. It has also been updated functionally, such as supporting 360° audio, and many people are probably looking forward to its release in Japan.
Galaxy Bids Pro is already on sale in the US. Since it was also sold on Amazon in the United States, I tried to purchase it.
Appearance
The shape of the earphone has changed significantly from the Galaxy Buds Live, and it has become a normal in-ear earphone. The size (thickness) has increased, and instead it has a dual driver with an 11mm diameter woofer and a 6.5mm tweeter.
By the way, compared to Galaxy Buds Live and Galaxy Buds+, it looks like the picture below. The shape is similar to Galaxy Buds +.
It feels good to wear on the ear. Of course, I think it depends on the person, but it fits better than the Galaxy Buds Live and is easy to put on and take off. Three types of earpieces, S, M, and L, are included. M size was attached from the beginning. You can use either the left or right earphone.
The charging case is the same size and shape as the Galaxy Buds Live. In addition to charging, it also supports qi standard wireless charging with USB Type-C.
Available on iOS. However, the app is only compatible with Android
The companion app is Galaxy Wearable. As always, any Galaxy device with the app installed will simply open the case and a pop-up will complete the initial setup.
Galaxy Buds+ and Galaxy Buds Live were available on iOS from the "Galaxy Buds" app, but Galaxy Buds Pro is not available at the moment. However, you can pair normally from Bluetooth settings. You can't customize the operation, but you can use basic functions including ANC switching on earphones.
By default, tap to play/pause a song, double tap to go forward, triple tap to go back. Long press is switching of ANC.
It supports multi-pairing, and if you enable "seamlessly connect earphones" in the app settings, you can connect from another device even if another device is currently connected. Yes (enabled by default). Of course, it won't switch if you're using it while playing music, but you don't have to disconnect and connect with another device.
Unfortunately it's not multipoint, but for practical purposes this should be enough.
360° audio is expected in the future
One of the highlights of the Galaxy Buds Pro is its 360° audio capability. According to the explanation on the official website, ``The advanced motion tracking sensor accurately identifies the direction of the sound when you move your head. There is also a note that "Only devices that run UI 3.1 or later are supported", so it is not possible to use it at the moment. One UI 3.1 will be installed on the Galaxy S21 series, but it should be compatible with other models in future updates.
First of all, this is a function that I would like to see in the future.
The effect of ANC is quite excellent
The most important thing is the sound quality. It may depend on the seasoning of the equalizer, but overall the impression is that the intonation is large and the sound is rich. There are parts where I feel that the treble is not stretched enough, but this is a matter of taste. By the way, the supported codecs are SBC and AAC. For Galaxy devices, Samsung's own Scalable Codec is used.
ANC is quite excellent, and indoor air conditioners, washing machines, PC fan noise, etc. can be almost silenced. People's voices and high-frequency sounds can't be blocked much, but this is a similar trend with other earphones. This is just my personal impression, but the strength of ANC is about the same as Sony's WF-1000XM3.
It also has a voice detection function that automatically switches to a function that captures ambient sounds from ANC and automatically lowers the media volume when your own voice is detected. However, this function doesn't seem to work unless media is playing, so be careful if you're just using ANC as a substitute for earplugs.
Galaxy Buds Pro, which changed from the Galaxy Buds Live, which had an impact on its appearance, to a very general shape. For that reason, it may be a model that is particular about sound quality and ANC. There is little pressure on the ears, so you won't get tired even if you wear them for a long time.
