Google launches 'Fast Pair' to speed up Bluetooth pairing on Android devices - ITmedia NEWS
On October 31st (local time), Google announced a new feature called "Fast Pair" that speeds up pairing between Android devices and Bluetooth accessories. It can be used on devices with "Android 6.0 Marshmallow" or later + "Google Play Services" 11.7 or later.
However, the Bluetooth accessory side also needs to be compatible, and at the time of the announcement, only "Google Pixel Buds" (not released in Japan) and Danish Libratone's "Q Adapt On-Ear" are compatible. The US Plantronics "Voyager 8200" series will soon be compatible.
"Google Pixel Buds"When you place the activated Fast Pair compatible accessory near your Android device, the Android device starts scanning BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) and detects Fast Pair packets. A "Tap to pair" notification will appear on the lock screen.
Simply tap this to complete the accessory pairing.
Google's latest original terminal "Pixel 2" series does not have a headphone jack and is based on using Bluetooth earphones.
Google is calling on Bluetooth accessory makers to support Fast Pair in their products.
