　「高齢者人口の増大などで世界的に聴覚障害に苦しむ人が増えており、2050年には現在の推計約4億7000万人から9億人に達する可能性がある」というWHO（世界保健機関）の発表（2018年）を伝える記事^1）を目にした私は、そのときは「世界中が高齢社会になるんだもんねえ」という感想を持っただけでした。　しかし、母が難聴になり、私自身が耳鳴りに悩まされて耳鼻科通いをするようになり、つまり聴覚障害というテーマが大変身近になった今、あらためて記事を読んでみると、このテーマにまつわる看護職の役割が今後大きくなっていくのではないかと思いました。
