Surprisingly low-priced wireless earphones, good sound quality! Skullcandy "Jib True" Review

Recommended for people who tend to lose their wireless earphones!

Released in response to the news that the iPhone 12 doesn't come with headphones, Apple's new Beats Flex (5,400 yen plus tax) is the most affordable wireless earphone the company sells. But more to say, it's not completely wireless and it's not cheap.

Skullcandy's new Jib True earphones are completely wireless and can be expected to sound quality for more than $ 30. Many manufacturers have started producing wireless earphones since Apple's AirPods debuted in late 2016, but they're still expensive accessories.

Skullcandy may be the first wireless earphone product to beat Apple in terms of price and (probably) design.

Skullcandy Jib True wireless earphones

What's this: Good sound quality, the cheapest wireless earphones from well-known brands

How much: $ 30

Favorite place: Sound quality and performance are fairly stable for a price of $ 30.

What I don't like: Bass frequencies can get too high. You can't change the sound profile or adjust the EQ.

Despite its good sound quality, it's no match for Apple's AirPods ($ 160), AirPods Pro ($ 250), Jabra's Elite 75t ($ 180), or Sennheiser's Momentum wireless earphones ($ 300). However, Jib True feels pretty good compared to earphones in the same price range that you probably buy in a hurry at the airport.

Jib True's wireless earphones have a well-balanced sound profile, but the bass performance is slightly overboosted and the treble feels subdued. There is no mobile app that allows you to change the sound profile and fine-tune the equalizer. The AirPods sound is sharper and more balanced, offering a slightly wider frequency range than Jib True.

The Jib True charging case feels like cheap plastic, unlike the AirPods white case, but the lid can be snapped open and closed satisfactorily. In addition, it is held in place by a magnet and can be charged while it is stored inside, and it is said that it lasts for up to 22 hours. Charging the case is via the microUSB port on the back (not wireless charging). In this case, it will last for 6 hours on a full charge (however, it can be extended by storing it in a case).

Compared to the compact AirPods and AirPods Pro cases, the Jib True wireless earphone charging case is a bit larger, but it's still compact and easy to carry in your pocket. The design is simple and it seems to be functionally sufficient.

The other $ 30 wireless earphones come with the image above. A small plastic bag containing a user guide, a microUSB charging cable, and two silicone ear tips.

You can choose from three sizes of tips. I'm lucky if I can find something that "fits" the shape and size of my ear, but in most cases it may be "about". If you are particular about the fit, you can prepare a shape memory type chip separately.

A common unspoken understanding when buying cheap electronics is that the gadget is too big. However, Skullcandy's Jib True wireless earphones are the smallest earphones I've ever tried.

One of the reasons may be that unlike Apple, Sony and Jabra earphones, it doesn't have built-in noise canceling technology, but usually in-ear earphone designs are already effective in blocking a lot of noise. If you don't absolutely want the noise canceling function, it's still worth considering.

It can't be helped to stick out of your ears, but if you use a silicon chip of the right size and firmly fix it to your ears, you don't have to worry about it falling off lightly. However, I'm not sure if it's suitable for running or wearing during intense exercise.

This may be a feature common to many wireless earphones, but with Jib True, it's hard to click a small button while wearing it. It is necessary to press the button while pressing the earphone so that it does not come off the ear. As a result, you may give up pressing the shortcut button and operate it on your smartphone.

Jib True's wireless earphones may not be the best for everyone. If you are particular about sound quality, you need something a little more expensive. For example, Sony's WF-XB700 wireless earphones ($ 130) are much cheaper than the AirPods Pro. But if you want to keep your budget a little lower, or if you find it easier to get rid of your wireless earphones, you might consider Jib True's wireless earphones. You may not be impressed by this earphone, but you shouldn't be disappointed.

Note

It's not as perfect as what you get from Apple's AirPods Pro, and the bass frequencies can get too high. That said, it's acceptable given the $ 30 price tag.

-No noise cancellation or wireless charging function.

-When charging the earphones using the charging case, the battery life is 22 hours. Includes microUSB cable.

-Silicone earphone chips come in three sizes.
