When parents of the world buy a brand new "PlayStation 5 (PS5)" for their families, they will often buy it with genuine peripherals (of course, if they can get the PS5 out of stock successfully). But). Sony's new headphones, the PULSE 3D Wireless Headset, may also be on the shopping list. It seems that PS5 users are familiar with using these headphones, but I recommend expanding your horizons here. You don't have to stick to Sony headphones. Considering the price of $ 99 (10,978 yen at the Sony store in Japan) where the new controller contributed greatly to the new game experience of "PlayStation 5", PULSE 3D is a pretty good product. However, it is possible to enjoy the PS5's new 3D audio technology to the fullest without these headphones. Try to save money. As long as the specifications are met, the headphones at hand should suffice.
"Tempest 3D" can be enjoyed even if it is not made by Sony

In addition to the PlayStation, PULSE 3D comes with a wireless adapter for connecting to a PC or Apple's Mac series. A 3.5mm headphone cable is also included, so you can connect it to any device with an audio jack. However, you can basically enjoy stereo sound with most other headphones. Also, the appeal of PULSE 3D is that you can experience Sony's unique "Tempest 3D audio technology", but this function can only be used when the headset is connected to the PS5. Tempest 3D is a new system in which sounds assigned to specific objects in the game can be heard changing according to their relative position. This allows players to enjoy a deeper immersive feeling in the game world. The great thing is that it's all done with software alone. It's pretty complicated to explain how it works, but thankfully Tempest 3D works with most stereo headsets. Even headphones without surround sound effects can enjoy the sensation of moving in 3D space while listening to audio, whether or not they are connected to the Internet. This point makes the position of PULSE 3D halfway. Although it has a meaningful product name, you can actually enjoy the greatness of the Tempest 3D system even if you don't have this Sony headset. What's more, most headsets can be used both wired and wireless. In other words, Sony products must compete with the value of the hardware itself. At a reasonable price, PULSE 3D has a powerful bass sound and conveys a crisp and precise sound in this situation. When connected to the PS5, the equalizer can be adjusted by selecting from three types: "standard", "base boost", and "shooter". This is a convenient function that allows you to fine-tune the sound quality to your liking, and even if you change your mind later, you can change the settings using the same procedure. Unfortunately, the PULSE 3D doesn't have a telescopic microphone. Therefore, I am not good at picking up the user's voice from the ambient noise. If you have a lot of opportunities to play in noisy places, you should consider other products.
