Suspicious e-mail that charges security software update fee, should you call the specified number? [Digital literacy for the elderly, learning from damage cases]-INTERNET Watch
In late August, I received a suspicious e-mail purporting to be from Trend Micro, a major security company.
The subject of the email is "Subscription order (70780952)". The text reads, "Your Trend Micro All-in-One Protection subscription has been renewed and 49,000 yen will be deducted from your account today." Please contact us.", and it is characterized by inducing people to contact the specified phone number. Please be aware that this is a fraudulent email.
Generally, there are many methods of trying to steal personal information by guiding people to phishing sites by explaining that they need to change settings or check/update account information. A phone number is provided. The contact information includes the individual's name, address, and IP phone number starting with 050 as the "billing team".
If you make a phone call, your phone number will be known, and you may be asked for your personal information or demand money.
