Redesigned Google Photos app. Search photos from the map
Google Photos celebrated its 5th anniversary with a new design. The Android and iOS apps were revamped on the 26th, focusing on "memories", making it easier to resume with important moments, and making it easier to operate with three tabs.
The Google Photos icon has also been renewed while inheriting the design of a windmill with the motif of “nostalgic memories”. At the bottom of the app, there are three tabs, Photos, Library, and Search, to access the main functions.
Old icon → New iconThe main tab [Photos] still displays all photos and videos. Thumbnails are larger, videos play automatically, and the space between photos has been reduced.
The top row displays a large collection of "memories". You can look back on photos taken with family and friends in the past, photos from travel destinations, highlights from the past week, and more. In addition, the Memories function has been enhanced by integrating the [Recommended] tab, which automatically creates movies, collages, animations, etc., into [Memories]. In addition, a function to "manage" memories, such as hiding specific people and periods, has been added.
Added a new function to display photos on the map in the search. Just by pinching and zooming on the map, you can check the location where the photo was taken or find the one you want from the photos you took on your trip. If you enable the location information of the device's camera and turn on location history, or if you manually add the shooting location to the photo, you can search for the photo by location. They are also displayed on the map.
Library contains frequently used functions such as Albums, Favorites, Trash, and Archive. You can also access shared content by simply tapping the "Threads" button in the upper left.
